I’m going dark

Aah the weekend.

I think I am going to take a day or two off.  I will probably be back Sunday night but it’s been a long week, I’ve hardly been at my best with this stupid cold and I am finding the world somewhat distracting in general and American politics more specifically.

I am going to clear out my twitter because I am just sick to the back teeth of Donald Trump, the GOP and the general stench – and instead I shall fill it with things that bring me joy and inspiration.  In addition there will be more Science and knowledge and art and films and comics and pictures of monkeys.

I have pretty much hit American politics fatigue after spending a large part of the week reading far too much about what is going on.  It’s odd that I have found it all so fascinating as I dont really care that much about what is going on in the UK despite all our shenanigans.  I guess I always like to think that we are just wholly incompetent and bumbling fools whereas your lot just seem rotten to the core and it’s all rather sad.  I think it is actually affecting my my desire to write and create and enjoy things.

Instead I am going to find a load of uplifting and positive American experiences I think.  I will let you know how I get on.  Oh and there’s the Americans amongst you readers of course, I like you lot.

So fingers crossed you’ll have sorted him out by the time I get back.

  1. I know how you feel. It is sad and extremely frustrating. I don’t watch the news anymore. I really don’t want to know. Counting the days until the next election! Until then, I am happy to life in my happy little world! I hope you feel better!!

  2. Enjoy your time away. I wish I could say that everything will be remedied here in the US by the time you return, you’d know I was lying. This is going to be a long slog. Trying to rid ourselves of the damage done in the last year will take a very long time. Trying to recover from a full four-year term won’t happen in my lifetime. And don’t even get me thinking about 8 years because the enormity of that is like your UY Scuti.

  3. I have similar struggles sometimes, a step away to refresh yourself (and you’ve been setting a furious pace) can do wonders. Have a good break and I look forward to reading whenever you’re ready to write again.

  4. oh, and a guy in Tucson wrote and published a book title that reminded me of you “A Hundred Limericks for a Hundred Days of Trump” with a 5-star rating. (ok, only 3 reviewers — but we look we are not the only audience for Trump limericks say your faithful readers — well not so much faithful as wandering but …. )

  5. I heard he started out one a day on facebook so you may be able to get a free sampling there. (sorry about the grammar errors — when I saw I made at least 2, I stopped — figured 2:30am was too late to write without sounding like an idjit–can’t correct comments more’s the pity)

  6. Take a day off. Protest against the rich and Theresa May. I’ve been protesting for 20 years. Let’s take our country back.
