Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday: Bond & Seek

A grown up attempt at a tanka.

Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday

I don’t take many things seriously as you probably know but I am going to make a concerted effort to do Colleen’s challenges properly when I do them. I have scant regard for the correct use of haiku and tanka and often do such beastly things to them but I think it is also important to show appreciation for the little blighters because they are so fabulous when done right.

This week the challenge was to use synonyms for Character and Affection. I used Disposition and Tenderness.

Cold disposition

Winter holds firm unyielding

until spring awakes

Her tenderness revealing

new life long hidden in sleep

Grey sky and sea merge

Love lost beyond horizons

searching and waiting

eyes closed she feels cold waves crash

lost at sea but still she hopes

Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday: New & Experience

This week the challenge was to use synonyms for GUIDE and DESTINATION.  I used MAP then STEER and INTENTION then DESIGN.  And its about change so that is another box ticked, and it is in the first person kind of maybe so I am thinking I have the structure and subject just about nailed if nothing else.

A path less travelled

raw emotions unchartedn

no map or compass

No intention or outcome

passenger to circumstance

Heart, fragile design

it races headlong unchecked

wildly, no steer

Until rest, satisfaction

contented at journeys end

Dark gives way to light

Each morning fresh encounter

eternal routine

Bleary eyed I greet the day

a moment in time passing

And I have not written about bodily functions, illness, politics or any such thing.  I have stuck to nature, just as our diminutive haiku masters intended.  Oh and this is a Tanka, so a haiku with extra lines because of reasons.

Natures morn’ alarm

Days bygone and days to come

The morning herald

Calling me to the day ahead

My sweet morning concerto

Ok so originally I had wanted to write the one below but as I said, serious stuff indeed!

Natures morn’ alarm

Days bygone and days to come

The morning herald

Calling me to the day ahead

Shitting all over my car

Michael 😊
