AI is here. Get used to it.

So, can AI write your blog content?

There is a lot of talk right now of AI, CHAT GPT, and other Large Language AI’s…and oh lordy is it going to be an interesting ride. I, for one, am looking forward to serving our Robot Overlords, though some are more concerned over just what may transpire.

If you haven’t read much about it, then I urge you to get out there and explore it.

Anyway, I thought I would see just how good CHAT GPT would be at generating blog content. So, first, I told it to do me a limerick involving a llama, in pyjamas, and an amorous farmer. Something I had posted about the previous day.

The AI wrote:

There once was a farmer named Fred,

Who loved his llama more than his bed,

He dressed it in pyjamas,

And sang it sweet ballads,

And that’s how he spent his days instead.

I think my limericks are safe for now. Then I asked it to write a poem about love.

Here’s a poem about love:

Love is a feeling that’s hard to describe, It’s like a warm hug that you can’t hide, It’s the way your heart beats when you’re near, And the way your eyes light up with cheer.

Love is the sun on a cloudy day, It’s the rainbow after the rain goes away, It’s the laughter that fills up the room, And the way your heart feels when it starts to bloom.

Love is the feeling that makes life worth living, It’s the joy that comes from giving and giving, It’s the way your soul sings when you’re in love, And the way your heart soars like a dove.

I hope you enjoyed it! 😊

Then I asked it for a 200-word story about a man who finds a vampire living in his barn:

John had always known that there was something strange about the old barn on his property. But he never could have guessed what he would find inside.

One day, while doing some repairs, John stumbled upon a hidden room in the barn. Inside, he found a coffin and a man sleeping inside it. At first, John thought the man was dead, but then he saw his chest rise and fall.

The man woke up and introduced himself as Vlad. He explained that he was a vampire who had been living in the barn for centuries. John was shocked but also fascinated by Vlad’s story.

Over time, John and Vlad became friends. Vlad taught John about the history of vampires and how to protect himself from them. In return, John helped Vlad adjust to modern life.

Eventually, Vlad decided it was time to move on. He thanked John for his friendship and disappeared into the night.

John never forgot about Vlad and often wondered where he had gone. But he was grateful for the experience and knew that he would never forget the time he spent with the vampire in his barn.

Okay, so not amazing but interesting, right? Not wholly awful. And then I got it to do something I think it did brilliantly.

I asked it to do a review of a pizza I had the night before, and then focus on the sourdough base ith a positive slant, and then describe a fictitious new york restaraunbt. It dod all of this in about 5 seconds…

The combination of anchovies, olives, and blue cheese may not be for everyone, but for those who enjoy these toppings, this pizza is a real treat.

The salty flavor of the anchovies pairs perfectly with the tangy blue cheese and the briny olives. The crust is crispy and chewy, providing the perfect base for the toppings.

Overall, this pizza is a great choice for those who are looking for something a little different. It’s not your typical pepperoni pizza, but it’s definitely worth trying if you’re feeling adventurous.

The sourdough pizza base was absolutely delicious. It had the perfect balance of chewiness and crispiness, with a tangy flavor that complemented the toppings perfectly.

The crust was thin and crispy, with just the right amount of char around the edges. The sourdough flavor was subtle but definitely noticeable, adding an extra layer of complexity to the pizza.

Overall, I would highly recommend this pizza to anyone who loves sourdough bread or is looking for something a little different from their usual pizza. It’s definitely worth trying!

This pizzeria is an absolute gem! The small tables with chequered tablecloths give it a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that is perfect for a night out with friends or family.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. They are always happy to make recommendations and answer any questions you may have.

The pizza itself is absolutely delicious. The crust is crispy and chewy, with just the right amount of char around the edges. The sauce is tangy and flavorful, and the toppings are always fresh and delicious.

Overall, I would highly recommend this pizzeria to anyone who loves great food and great service. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!

AND THEN I ASKED IT FOR A HAIKU ABOUT LEAVES

Leaves fall gently down,
Dancing in the summer breeze,
Nature’s poetry.

I have no idea where this all ends, but it is happening, and it is happening very fast. Get used to it. Understand it. It is going to change everything…

Oh and I havent even got into its ability to generate images – but it does that too. The image for this prompt was generated to a description I gave Dal-E. Lord alone knows what this means for art and artists…

Inexpressible Notions – In the Dark 7

Sometimes the words are just lost in the noise.

Another month of M’s writing prompts lies ahead.  I did them all in December but was less successful in January.  Let’s see how we do in February shall we.

It’s been an odd week this week.  I have barely been able to get to my blog as life seemed to get in the way.  I found my days filled, from morning until night, and most nights I found myself looking longingly at my blog but losing the battle and having to sleep instead.  In the past I would have beat myself up about it but this time I simply succumbed and let life do it’s thing.   It did not look like a fight I was going to win so I chose to not have the fight.

Things feel a little more under control now though and I have managed to post a couple of pieces but it’s the piece below I have found myself struggling with.  I started it and flew through those lines, quite excited by the idea and really keen to get it written out.  Five days later however and the energy I felt at the time and the ideas that were forming have disappeared.  I had made a few notes but I am thinking that the moment has passed and it will be a piece I may never finish.  I have only ever had one other piece like that and again, it was a piece that I let lie dormant for a few days and the flames turned to embers and were eventually extinguished.

I’m okay with that though, I have learned something about my own creative process and will hopefully not make the same mistake again.  I guess the title of this works in many ways…

INEXPRESSIBLE NOTIONS

In the everyday back and forth of life Johnathan Cholmley-Ambers was a man who simply went with the flow.  He was as forthright as he was opinionated, which was not at all, and in most situations could largely be relied upon to cause neither a fuss, a drama nor a kerfuffle.  His friends, of which he had exactly none, would likely have described his as wet if they existed and those who would count themselves as colleagues would often forget his name so forgettable was he.

It therefore came as a surprise to him, as much as those who knew him, when one morning he awoke and quite simply decided that today he would speak his mind.  He did not know why today of all days he had made this decision but a decision it was and he took to it with much aplomb.  It was also somewhat of a revelation that he held such strong opinions, because he was pretty certain that he had not historically felt so passionately about anything at all.

He awoke, showered and dressed and very briefly considered having breakfast but then decided that the marmalade on toast could go screw itself and instead opted to head out to work with an empty belly and a skip in his step.

His poor neighbour, Mrs Laud, a full bosomed kindly old lady who sported a purple rinse and a love of cats stood aghast as he greeted her with a “Shove your good morning up your bottom” as she was bringing in the milk.  She was still stood there quite speechless as Jonathan’s  front gate snapped closed and he headed for the bus.

Moonstruck Repercussions – In the Dark 6

By the light of the silvery mooooooon

Scratch howl and bark

lend ear and hark

Soul tortured by the moon

danger most stark

turned at the lark

Dark hunger sated soon

Feel burning mark

And so embark

to love and hope immune

journey most dark

new patriarch

And dance to hunger’s tune

Silly n Sexy – In the Dark 5

Imagine the scene if you will…

Another month of M’s writing prompts lies ahead.  I did them all in December but was less successful in January.  Let’s see how we do in February shall we.  These pieces tend to be excerpts and flashes of something that could be.

The scene: A bench between A cherry blossom, petals falling gently on the late summer breeze as the sun sets and night Descends.  Our couple find themselves alone and high on the intoxicating thrill of the first flushes of romance.

He: Go on, squeeze it.  It’s okay.

She: Oh you are bad.

(Jumps as it honks.  Giggling pushes hair behind her ear)

She: It really is rather big isn’t it.

He: If you think that’s big then wrap your eyes around this!

She: (gasps) Oh my.  That’s so huge.  What size is it?  Is everything so big.  (winks and giggles)

He: Oh yes, and this will make your eyes water I am sure. (raises one eyebrow)

She: (More gasps and slight squeal)

He: Oh my dear indeed, I am glad you approve.

She: May I touch it?

(Lights dim, stars come out.  Awkward pause ensues)

She:  Shrieks as it empties all over her face

He: Gotcha (loud laughter.  Slaps thigh)

She: (Smiling) Oh you are terrible.

He:  You’re all wet, here let me dry you.  I should have warned you it has a hair trigger and goes off at the slightest touch.

She: Oh I love it, once it starts it just never stops coming.

He: (Blushing) I am indeed a man of many talents.

She:  Any many handkerchiefs it seems.  (Gasps and claps as he pulls handkerchiefs from his sleeve)

Scene closes as our the camera pans away, the circus tent in the background and fades to black.

Blushing Authenticity – In the Dark 4

What darkness lies in the hearts of men?

Another month of M’s writing prompts lies ahead. I did them all in December but was less successful in January. Let’s see how we do in February shall we. These pieces tend to be excerpts and flashes of something that could be. The exploration of an idea…I htink I will allow myself 500 words for this one.

Simon punched snooze on his alarm and settled back onto his pillow.

“Just 5 minutes more” he mumbled to himself and closed his eyes. But as quickly as he had closed them they were suddenly wide open and he sat upright in bed. Today was the day that it would arrive.

He slipped from his bed, dragged on his clothes and headed downstairs to fired up his Laptop. He opened his Browser and logged onto the tracking company website.

Estimated time of Delivery 9am-11am

He grinned with excitement, grabbed the sales brochure and settled into his chair to wait. He flicked almost instinctively to the page for his model.

“Built of the finest cutting edge materials the M7 is designed to provide the most realistic and sensuous experience in synthetic partnerships. With 18 points of pivot and flex and a full range of customisation features this is industry leading technology at a price as certain to please in the pocket as it is in the bedroom”

He had saved every penny he could scrape together, working double shifts and picking up extra work on weekends. Even once he had the money finding a supplier that could produce everything that he wanted wasn’t easy but through an online group he had eventually found someone who could give him just what he needed.

He flicked through the brochure again. He’d been alone for so long now, this was was going to take some adjustment.

“Created to cater for both your physical and emotional needs your synthetic partner will be fine tuned to your personality and desires and our 100 point real time compatibility matrix ensures that even when you don’t know what you need your SP does.”

A sudden knock at the door caused him to jump and he sprang to his feet. It was 9:25. He opened the heavy metal door and a tall man handed him a small electronic tablet. “Sign please” he said without looking up. Simon really didn’t care how rude he was and ran his thumb over the screen and a light pinged green. The courier mumbled a thanks and turned away leaving a large plainly wrapped box behind.

Simon hurriedly carried it inside and placed it on the table in the small kitchenette. His pulse was racing. He took a small knife and carefully cut along the seam down the middle of the box and then peeled the halves open. Nestled in the packaging was a card which he took out.

On behalf of SP Industries we thank you for your customer and we are certain that you will be 100% happy with your purchase. All you need to do to initiate your SP is to place your thumb on the reader plate on the bottom of the left foot. We would though ask that you verify that you are in receipt of the model you ordered, detailed on the back of this card, before initiation as refunds cannot be accepted once initiated.

Simon flicked the card over and smiled.
