A Limerick

More of the same

I believe that the limerick form can cheer up even the most horrid of subjects. What do you reckon?

Once a POTUS said “Give them all guns

to the teachers, the kids and the mums

to the poor and the sick

to the old and the thick”

“Oh Bravo” said his NRA chums

  1. Perfect timing on this one. Yesterday our local schools were shut down because of a facebook threat. Here in the middle of nowhere. It just goes to prove that no community is too small or isolated to be immune to this craziness.

  2. We’ve had another week of kids threatening schools … one judge here was sick of it … the teenaged kid is in jail with a huge bond, locked up til his next hearing on March 22nd, and, making domestic terrorism threats is a felony, punishable for 20 years in prison. Another kid brought a grenade (not active) to school today … he is in middle school (he is an 8th grader). Teachers with firearms and who will protect the kids while they are off shooting and probably nervous as h*ll. Many people wonder why they just have armed security guards inside/outside each school.

  3. I saw this week a teacher with a gun apparently barricaded himself inside a school now I know it’s probably an isolated case but the more guns you give to people the more chance you have of this sort of thing happening. I would like to think sense will prevail but you know what, I don’t think it will. I actually believe that the NRA would like there to be proposed ban on guns because right now gun sales are on the Decline and the minute you try and ban something things go crazy and call me a conspiracy theorist but I think they would be rubbing their hands at the idea of even any sort of tighter regulation

  4. I hear that in discussion forums as well Michael. Supposedly teachers will be highly vetted and the locked box containing the gun would be kept in the classroom and very few people in the school (just administrators) would be privy to what teachers have handguns, and those handguns would have thumbprint recognition to avoid a gunman misappropriating their gun and then would have two weapons, his and theirs. People argue that a gunman would simply say “do the thumbprint recognition and turn the gun over to me, or I’ll kill you” … many here are saying why not just have security guard in school ? We had a college campus shooting yesterday – it turned out the gunman was 19 and shot his parents on campus … the entire school was on lockdown the entire day and he was at large until midnight. It is way out of control here.

  5. I think unfortunately America’s obsession with guns is something that they cannot turn back from and whatever you do now is probably too late you’ve made the decisions to go down the route you did and there are inevitable repercussions . certainly very sad

  6. I agree with you wholeheartedly … no turning back now. As my mother used to say about not being able to reverse something bad “well, you’ve made your bed, now sleep in it.”
